A girl from mainland China arrives in this bustling and hustling Asian financial center to pursue her studies, and career, floating briefly in unfamiliar waters like a piece of duckweed. She pursues, drifts, drowns, and surfaces, ebbing and flowing, engaging with the city. Her trajectory is similar to the rhythm of sound, with its ups and downs, its prologue, its climax, and its eventual return to peace. If you take a clip of her life and close your eyes to feel the world of her sound walk in Hong Kong, you will be able to follow her footsteps into the lives of thousands of “Hong Kong drifters”…
This piece puts Chinese female migrants at the center of the creative soundwalking process, an artist-led soundscape project being conducted in urban public spaces in Hong Kong, this piece uses an ambisonic microphone recording the female soundwalking in Hong Kong, combining with Max/MSP, voices, electric music, let’s listen to the female drifter’s last day in Hong Kong…
